ECS held a health coordination meeting

Ethiopian Catholic Church Health Coordinators’ meeting organized by ECS Health and HIV/AIDS Unit was held from June 29- 30, 2009. The objective of the meeting was to bring together diocesan and hospital coordinators to share experience, challenge and opportunities in ECC health coordination.

Abba Hagos Hayish, ECS Secretary General opened the meeting in prayer. In his opening remark, Abba Hagos said ‘’ each catholic Health institution is engaged in implementing the general healing mission of the Catholic Church’’. He also further noted that ‘’as we come here today we will be able to bring together our best practices, experiences and also challenges and then try to find opportunities and solutions for the challenges that we confront in all our respected missionary areas’’.

In the meeting, concepts of health coordination from the perspective of ECC health policy at hospital and diocese level were discussed thoroughly.  AWCS and St. Luke’s Hospital and Gambo hospital presented their coordination experience and challenges and other dioceses and institutions also shared their experience.

Representatives of Catholic Hospitals and major health centers, diocesan health coordinators, representative of partner organization CUAMM and ECS Health and HIV unit staff participated in the meeting.

The meeting will be conducted periodically twice a year from now on.
