H.G Archbishop Berhaneyesus, Metropolitan Archbishop, H.E Bishop Markos, Apostolic Vicar of Jimma Bonga, Rev. Fr. Hagos Hayish, Secretary General of Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat, Mr. Lane Bunkers, Country Representative of CRS Ethiopia and Mr. Jerry Jones, Regional Director of Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA), The Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat Management, Units heads team and representatives of religious congregations attended the gathering.
Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga Mons. Giovanni Batistta Gandolfo A dialogue with the guests took place, and Holy Mass was celebrated by the guest Cardinal. Cardinal Oscar in his remarks said that he was depressed by eye - witnessing the natural disaster that happened to Haiti. He also said that he was happy to see the Church’s immediate responses to the incidence. He underlined that “IT IS POSSIBLE TO ALLEVIATE HUNGER FROM THE WORLD!” If all states, nations, churches and caritas organizations work hard in cooperation. Regarding the coming generation, he emphasised that we must build democrats in order to prevail democracy in the world. Archbishop Berhaneyesus in his part said that he is very grateful to have the Cardinal and his delegates among us here in Ethiopia. The Cardinal is expected to visit activities in Adigrat Catholic Dioceses and meet the President of Ethiopia.
