H.E Abune  Lisanekristos Matheos

Episcopal ordination of H.E Abune Lisanekristos, as an Auxiliary Bishop of Addis Ababa with specific responsibility for the pastoral area of Bahir Dar, was held on April 18, 2010 at Catholic Cathedral, by H.G. Abune Berhaneyesus, Metropolitan Archbishop of Addis Ababa. H.G. Archbishop George Panikulam, Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia, and all Bishops of the Ethiopian Catholic Church were present on this occasion.

Together with the celebration of the Mass of the consecration, His Holiness Pope Benedict 16^th’s V^th anniversary was celebrated.

H.E. Abune Timotewos, Bishop/Dean of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Trinity Theology College, H.E. Ato Girma Biru, Trade and Industry Minister, many priests, sisters and lay faithful attended this remarkable event.

H.G. Abune Berhaneyesus, Metropolitan Archbishop of Addis Ababa in his Homily said that a Bishop is a result of a spiritually strong family. He further emphasized that heartfelt gratitude goes to H.E. Abune Lisanekristos’s Family.” 

H.E. Abune Lisanekristos on his part said that he would like to thank his family and the Church as well as the Holy Father for putting this trust on him.
