HISTORICAL NOTES AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Prefecture Apostolic of Hosanna was established by the Apostolic Constitution "Quae Utilia" February 13, 1940, with Territory taken from the Apostolic Vicariate of Neghelli.  It was elevated to the status of Vicariate Apostolic  on October 15, 1982.
