ECS Management Support

 

Administration and finance management

ECS has a full-fledged administration and finance management system. The following are some of the activities of the support functions of the ECS administration and finance department.

v           Facilitation of work and residence permits, travel documents for expatriate church personnel

v           Production of Administrative and Personnel manual and shared with DCSs

v           Capacity Building Support to DCSs in administration and financial systems development

v           Motor fleet insurance

v           Printing services

v           Property management

v           Purchase, logistics, transit 

v           Personnel management

The total number of employees (by May 2005) is 64 of which 37 are males and 27 females.

Priority areas for the near future

  • Preparation of the second five years (2006-2010) strategic plan

  • Provide technical support to Diocesan Secretariats in restructuring and strategic planning processes

  • Support to Diocesan Catholic Secretariats in programming and program management through capacity  needs assessment; organizational transformation and strategic planning will be strengthened.

  • Support to DCSs in administration and finance management systems (production of manuals, installation of system and staff training)

  • Improvement of the printing unit both materially and in staff technical competence

  • Updated (study and propose) ECS organizational structure

  • Finalization of the policy documents on the major ECC social and development programs

  • Gender mainstreaming as a cross cutting issue, in the projects and programs both at ECS and DCSs levels

  • Needs assessment of the ECC health and education institutions

  • Integration of the pastoral dimension to the social and development work of the Catholic Church. Catholic Social Teaching to be understood and applied in the social and development work

  • Production and facilitation of Internal monitoring system for social and development work of ECC-SADCO and ECC-SDCOs

  • Strengthening of the rehabilitation and development work through strengthened the integrated food security efforts and approach. ECS and DCSs will come up with integrated development efforts aiming at sustainable development programs that contribute to poverty reduction.

  • Diocesan Catholic Secretariats will be technically supported to develop social rehabilitation programs focusing on vulnerable children.
