Daughters of Mercy and the Cross Daughters of Mercy and of the Cross The Daughters of "Mercy and of the Cross" was founded by mother Maria Rosa Zangana, helped by Bishop Lancia Di Brolo (Italy) on 13 August 1892 in Sicily. Mother Zangana was born in to a Catholic Family in Partinico (Italy) on November 08, 1844. There was a spirit of love within the family and with the society and so has been helping sick poor people as she worked in the Borgetto (Italy). She died on April 08, 1914 in Borgetto. The Daughters of "Mercy and of the Cross" Sisters have their Mother House in Palermo and General House in Rome (Italy). They came to Ethiopia on August 26, 1984 and worked for ten years in Soddo Abala mission (Guggi). At present are working in Addis Ababa, Wolliso (West Shewa), Miqe (Sidamo) and Getche (Guragh).
