Consolata Missionary Sisters Consolata Missionary Sisters, MC "We should congratulate ourselves and feel honored for being the favorite children of Our Lady Consolata (...). We have to be proud, in a holy sense, to belong to Mary under this title... Thus, we have to respond properly and carry her name with dignity ". (Blessed Joseph Allamano)
The
Consolata Missionary Sisters are an international religious Family founded
in Turin, Italy, in 1910, by Blessed Joseph Allamano. Ø Prophetic and in solidarity, which urges us to the bare essential: the ministry of Consolation (Ex.3:7-10). Ø In the service of communion, which encourages us to live relationship as a place and way of evangelization (Lk.1 0:25_37). Ø Committed to inculturation which invites us to offer the Gospel to peoples, but respecting and valuing their cultural reality, grasping the Life which is already there and journeying together towards its fullness (Jon, 10: 10). Our Mission in Ethiopia has a long History: · 1864: It is only a dream. Joseph Allamano was 13 years old when he dreamed to come to Ethiopia and continues the Mission of Cardinal Massaia. · 1924-1042: During these years great number of Missionaries make Allamano's dream come true. There are missions in many areas of Ethiopia. · 1942-1974: a tiny group of local Sisters, the Ancelle of the Consolata, with patience and courage knit the future and wait and prepare the return of the Consolata Sisters · 1974: An international group of Missionaries return to fulfill the dream of Allamano. · Five Ethiopian Consolata Sisters are studying or serving in Kenya, Brazil, Venezuela and Italy. Ninety Sisters, at present, in Cooperation with Consolata Fathers Brothers and lay leaders live their Mission in Ethiopia carrying on the following Programme: · Formation of Ethiopian Sisters · Pastoral-Evangelization; Gender and Community Development, WID, · Education; · Functional Adult Literacy, Health Activities (Preventive and curative care and MCH) · Family Support Programme.
