Apostoles of Jesus The Congregation of the Apostles of Jesus was founded in 1968 at Moroto in Uganda, by two Comboni Missionaries; His Excellency Sisto Mazzoldi and Very Reverend Fr. John Marengoni, both of great memory. The identity of the Congregation is that of a religious, missionary Institute for Clergy and Laity "together", for the whole of Africa, without excluding any part of the world in need of specific missionary activity. The charism of the Congregation is that of the Good Shepherd; with priority to first evangelization and to bringing the church to a full development where it is already implanted, by practicing the evangelical programme: Go! Teach! and Baptize for the civilization of love and justice in the world. Our specific characteristics are active, enterprising missionaries: we stress Unity and Spirit of missionary sacrifice through the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. The Congregation has at present about 400 priests and perpetually professed brothers working in nine countries: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, Ethiopia, Botswana, South Africa, Europe and America.
1992: The
first members of the Apostles of Jesus congregation came to Ethiopia, and
at present they are seven members working in the three missions of Hawasa
Vicariate, Sidamo.
