AMECEA Chairman calls on the faithful to give back what they have received from the Lord to the less fortunate at the time of Easter
Eminence Cardinal Berhaneyesus, C.M., Archbishop of Addis Ababa, President of CBCE and AMECEA Chairman in his Easter Benediction called on the people of Ethiopia to pray for peace around the world. He said Easter is a time to reflect on all the graces received from the Good Lord and thank him.
“We as Christians must follow and imitate the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and love all the people around us. He is our Savior and we must take advantage of the opportunity of being saved he has given us. If we are humble and do his will he will glorify us, we will be part of the graces and joys of His Resurrection,” said the Cardinal.
He continued to say “Even though we are living in a constantly changing world we must pray to the Lord to give us strength to maintain our Faith, we must reflect the resurrection of Jesus Christ in our daily activities, we must follow His example and try to be good Christians.”
He said we must think of the less fortunate brothers and sisters around us and celebrate Easter together with them. “If we support and take care of the elders, the street children, the sick and those who are alone it will not only show that Christ is within us but also reflect the love we have for others,” he added.
In his message he also called on the people of Ethiopia to pray for a peaceful and successful conduct of the national election to be held on May 24, 2015. Easter according to the Ethiopian calendar is celebrated on April 12, 2015 this year.
